We continue to grow! Welcome Blaine Repko!

gw architecture inc. is pleased to announce we have added yet another amazing person to our team!

Meet Blaine Repko! Blaine is a Architectural Intern (soon to be licensed), designer, project manager and contract administrator and brings more than fifteen years of industry experience to gw architecture Inc. Throughout his career, he has gained a broad field of experience in many building types including recreation, financial institutions, educational, commercial, multi-family residential, personal care homes, medical, and cultural facilities.

Some of Blaine’s notable past major projects include (but are not limited to): Paterson GlobalFoods Institute, Hospitality and Culinary Arts, Red River College, Winnipeg (Architect of Record: Prairie Architects Inc.), Canwest Global Park, Home of the Winnipeg Goldeyes, Winnipeg (Architect of Record: MMP Architects Inc.), Punjab Cultural Centre, Winnipeg (Architect of Record: Prairie Architects Inc.),Asessippi Ski Village, winner of Attractions Canada Best New Attraction in its opening year, Asessippi Provincial Park (Architect of Record: MMP Architects Inc.), Swan Valley Credit Union, Swan River (Architect of Record: Prairie Architects Inc.)

Although many of his projects have been in the forefront of sustainable contemporary design, Blaine also has a strong interest and appreciation for historical buildings. Projects like Paterson GlobalFoods Institute required ground breaking initiatives to preserve historical elements and improve their performance in order to be viable for continued use and enjoyment. He is also a believer in giving to the community at a grass roots level. He has spent personal time being involved in the preservation and maintenance of important and valuable buildings in Winnipeg’s North End on a volunteer basis.

Blaine demonstrates a keen interest in sustainable design and many of his past projects have achieved LEED certification. His approach to all projects is with consideration for the performance of the building from an envelope and energy aspect, as well as the comfort, health, and performance of the occupants. The benefit of sustainable design approaches are explored and discussed with the client in order to provide the best building performance possible. Over the last several years, Blaine has been an enthusiastic proponent of energy conservation and historical preservation, speaking publically on behalf of clients, giving tours of facilities, and educating the public on unique initiatives and success stories.

Blaine is passionate about music as well as architecture. He enjoys building guitars almost as much as playing them, and is actively involved with many local musicians. Blaine writes and records music and recently initiated a program to encourage the professional development of amateur and semi-professional artists in the community.

gw architecture inc. is very pleased to welcome Blaine to the team and we look forward to many future success stories!
