Tech Touchdown / Production Facility

 

​​This Shaw Communications Tech-Touchdown / Production Facility retro-fit located on Scurfield Blvd in Winnipeg was the former home of the Dairy Producers Marketing Board. The 9,800 sq.ft. facility has become affectionately known as the "Dairy Barn".

 

The Shaw Design Team wanted to maximize the use of reclaimed/recycled building materials and decided to honour the building's history by specifying the use of reclaimed wood from a disassembled Manitoban dairy barn, grinding down the concrete floors to expose the aggregate (then polished) and custom sliding barn doors. This was a challenging project and an excellent example of adaptive reuse strategies at work in commercial projects.
