Misipawistik Cree Nation Health Centre

Grand Rapids, Manitoba

Misipawistik Cree Nation is a Cree community formerly known as Grand Rapids First Nation, located 400 KM North of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Misipawistik Cree Nation addresses community healing needs with workshops, sharing circles, community gatherings, traditional activities and counseling services. Providing an appropriate building for these activities that represents the Misipawistik Cree Nation was the mandate behind the design of the 5,000 square foot Health Centre.

The success of this project was a result of close communication with the Misipawistik Community. GW Architecture Inc. coordinated an in depth community consultation process that helped define the specific community needs, which then translated into a responsive outcome that would reflect the collective efforts of the project stakeholders.
